Designer Crafts Challenge - A Patriotic Garland!

The Designers Craft Connection theme for June is Patriotic.
Just in time for 4th of July inspiration and summer fun!
At the bottom of my post, you'll find the "hop forward" button so you can visit the other designers blogs and find creative ideas from home decor to cards!

I love this theme because it's great for all summer long!
I pretty much keep my red, white and blue decorations up till School starts!
Leaving them up makes every day a party day!

I made my garland from circles that I either punched out or hand cut. The sizes ranged from 1/2", 1 1/2", 2", 3" and 5 1/2".
I used this circle cutter on a flat surface with a retractable pencil and a 12x12 cardstock folded many times so I could cut out all the circles at once.

Once I had all my circles, I folded each one. The 1/2" ones took the longest, but was something I could easily do while watching a weekend show.
-When I work on a detailed project like this one, I like to do everything assembly line. Makes it go quicker. Each garland circle consist of 6 cut outs.
Lay then on a flat surface and add a smidgen of tacky glue to the side of each one.

Then start connecting them, making sure the edges line up while the glue is still wet.
After you have added the sixth cutout, put a bit of glue down the center and lay your ribbon, string, thread, or fishing twine.
Close it up, being careful to line of the edges. Pinch with your fingers into the center, making sure the ribbon is not going to come out.
Keep going, alternating between sizes and patterned papers.
The thinner the paper you use, the more likely it will crinkle up a bit when you apply the glue, but it's not noticeable once everything is hung up.
I hope you have enjoyed my craft and will visit again soon!
Please "hop" around for some more "Patriotic" creativity!
There is even a giveaway on Julie Mcguffee's Blog for 2 great Scrapbooking books!
Good luck, and happy creating! :)
