Westcott Pink Challenge and Giveaway!

Many thanks to Westcott Brand® Cutting Tools, maker of my favorite scissors, Duck Brand® Decorative duct tape, and VELCRO® Brand.
The premise of the blog hop this month was to create something with the three companies provided.
Since October is breast cancer month and all the products received were PINK,
I decided to create a Inspirational Journal Kit.
This kit will also be up for auction along with a sewn tote (seen at the bottom of this post)
The auction is sponsored by  Westcott and Charity Wings.
Organized by Marisa Pawelko

Permanent marker, and glitter glue.

I placed strips of duct tape on the book to help conceal the wording I did not want shown. Then I carefully placed the duct tape sheet over the front cover of the book, snipping the leftover sheet and smoothing it to the inside of the book. I also did this for the back cover. When using the solid color duct tape such as Gold, I recommend to patiently peel the tape from the roll or you may stretch it, causing it to buckle as I did above. After decorating the book with the solid and patterned tape, I smoothed out any wrinkles and bubbles before drawing my design and adding glitter glue for the final touch.

I used the following supplies to make this flower pen:
The Duck Tape Brand® Duct Tape Sheets, The Duck Brand® Patterned Duct Tape Rolls,
The Duck Brand® Duct Tape Rolls,

WestcottBrand® Titanium Bonded Non Stick Scissors.
colored permanent marker, glitter glue, strong adhesive, ball point pen, and craft pliers.

Cut a 2.5" square of the duct tape sheet, peel off the backing and place it sticky side up on your craft mat. Carefully lay two strips of your decorative tape over the duct tape sheet. If you can, try to match  the tapes design. Smooth out any wrinkles or bumps. Flip over and draw a wavy spiral circle, Use your titanium non stick scissors to cut along wavy lines.

Use the handle of a paint brush or the end of a pencil to start you flower. Curling from the center, wrapping the spiral around and around , holding it tight as you go.

When you get to the end, toss it on the table and fluff up the rose a bit. Add plenty of glue or hot glue to the bottom of the rose and then adhere the rest by pressing down in the center. Hold for a minute and set aside to fully cure.

Attach the rose to the top of the pen with pieces of solid color duct tape. Once secure, wrap a strip of tape around the pens body. Add glitter glue and decorative design to the underside of the rose. When the pen runs dry or you just want to change the color, simply pull out the pen nib, using a twisting back and forth motion with the pliers till it comes out.

For the ponytail holder, do the same rose making technique as above. Then use little strips of the white tape to adhere it to the hair elastic.

I made this pretty flower hair clip and head band with the following supplies:
The Duck Tape Brand® Duct Tape Sheets,
The Duck Brand® Duct Tape Rolls,

(VELCRO® is a registered trademark of Velcro Industries B. V.)

permanent markers, a paper piercer, 1 brad, and 1 hair clip.

First I made 3 different sized hearts from cereal packaging. These became my templates. I made sure the largest heart was no bigger than the width of the duct tape roll.
I traced at least 5 of each heart onto the duct tape sheet and colored in their designs before cutting.

Then I carefully cut each heart out with the titanium non stick scissors, peeled off their backing and placed onto a strip of sticky side up duct tape. Once again I used the titanium non stick scissors to cut out the gilded hearts.

I secured each layer of heart with a circle of tape, then placed each layer onto each other, using the paper piercer to make a hole for the brad.

I adhered the clip to the back of the flower with some tape and added more to make sure the flower would not come undone. I cut a small piece of the VELCRO® Brand Sticky Hook and Loop Fasteners,  added it to the hair clip and to this head band, so each would stay put in the hair.

VELCRO® Brand Plant Ties, are my gardens new best friend! You can see how in the picture on the left, my Angel Wing Begonias were drooping, and no amount of yarn or string was helping to hold them back. The photo on the right shows what a difference these plant ties made and with out damaging the fragile stalks.

This concludes my projects for this hop. I hope you have enjoyed your stay! Below is a Breast Cancer fleece tote I made to hold all the goodies you see here and more! Both the tote and my project items will be available in a auction  sponsored by Westcott and Charity Wings.
Organized by Marisa Pawelko!
