Ghouls Ghost and Glamour Girls swap reveal!

I recently participated in a Halloween swap called "Ghouls, Ghost and Glamour Girls"!
It was hosted by Jennifer Harris Hayslip and Jessi Nagy.

The premise was to purchase or make sparkly glamorous jewelry or accessories for our swap partner.

My swap partner was Marian Mclemore. We exchanged likes and dislikes by email and then set to making our pretties! These are what I sent Marian. She likes lace, glitter and vintage items.
She also loved chunky bracelets and I love to make them!

She expressed that she liked brass, owls, black, cream and purple.
This is one of my favorite creations so far. I really love the colors!
Below is what she sent me!
It was a delight to open up those coffins...stuffed with amazing presents.
She knew I liked to craft, bake, and I loved Halloween!
She made me a spooky Halloween banner too!
Of course we both love owls. :)
This hair clip is so beautiful. I love how she added the bling in the center.
I plan to dress up as a witch this year but was worried my hat would get caught on spider webs and such....this clip will be just perfect. I can't wait!

Holiday Display with Deflecto

I love all things Halloween and bats, don't you?
In the past, I've tried hanging them in  windows with suction cups, but then they cant flutter and twirl as bats do...
It was pointless to try to hang a hook because the window structure is metal, so no help there.

Then I discovered a fantastic way to hang my bats and other decoration by way of Deflecto!
I used Sign Hangers,  some "s" hooks and fishing line.

I traced and cut bats from black cardstock and used this wet erase marker for the eyes.

The sign hangers come with a strong double stick foam square. I placed the squares on top of the window, just behind the blinds. I added the hooks and hung the bats. So easy!

With Halloween and other entertaining events coming up, I thought I'd get a head start on some place cards.

Also by Deflecto, these black plastic Sign Tags work really well with a Top Note die and Sizzix Big Shot! The Sign Tags come 10 to a package and are 4 1/8" x 5 7/8" each. They also come with the wet erase marker I used for the bats.
After I ran the tags through the big shot, I cut them in half- as shown.
The wet erase marker works beautifully when writing names or adding designs!
The Display Holder keeps the place cards upright on plates and tables.
Done entertaining? Use a wet cloth to clean the tags so you are ready for the next event.
You can even use them in your studio!
Flip the place cards upside down, and use them with a Versa Grip Sign Holder for storage bins!

I love how one end of the clip is 'narrow' and the other end 'wide', perfect to hold signs and tags.

So...what to do with the leftover sign tags plastic?
Decorate them with the wet erase marker, then add some strips of magnet sheet to the back with double stick tape.

Presto! A instant piece of art for the refrigerator!
Thank You for coming by.

Creepy Voo-Doo Spider Dolls!

Welcome!
I hope you like Creepy things because these spider doll heads are all that!
I was inspired a little bit from Toy story 2 where the mutant toys come out from under Sid's bed- you remember the doll head? Yea, that one....
Then also a little bit of inspiration from Pirates of The Caribbean 2- when Jack Sparrow was the village king, remember his eye's?

The materials for this craft are pretty easy to come by.
You will need:
  • 3 Smoothfoam 2 1/8" Baby Heads  Smooth off the ridges with medium grade sandpaper.
  • Neon Folk Art paints in Green, Purple and Orange. - I found these in Walmart.
  • Gloss Luster Mod Podge
  • White and Black acrylic paint
  • Metallic Chenille stems
  • Fine glitter
  • Googly eyes
  • Craft sheet, double stick take, tacky glue, (3) 3" pieces of 26 gauge wire, foam brush, a fine tipped paint brush, plastic cups, plates, tooth picks and a extra foam block.
Pierce the bottom of the doll head with the toothpick and paint with a neon color. Set toothpick with doll head into foam block so paint can dry easily. Its takes approximately 2 coats of paint to cover the heads.
Do this for all the colors.

Coat doll heads with Mod Podge then hold over a cup while you sprinkle glitter.
Pour excess glitter back into container.
Place in foam block to set.
While the doll heads with glitter are setting, work on the spider legs.
Gather all 4 chenille stems and fold in half. Then twist them a few times in the middle and add some double stick tape.

Go over each doll head with one more coat of Mod Podge to seal in the glitter.
When they are no longer sticky, carefully attach the legs.

Place some tacky glue onto bottom of the doll head and add your spider legs.
Bend the wire piece into a "U" shape and push into the doll bottom around the tape.
When the wire is half pushed in, twist, then push into the tape as shown. This helps secure the legs.

Add your googly eyes with the tacky glue.
Paint extra eyes or designs with the black and white acrylic paint.
Don't forget to add the fangs!
Bend the legs as shown.

This is my Jack Sparrow take off.
Don't the eyes totally creep you out?

I was going for a Voo-Doo spider doll on this one.... can't you hear the African drums beating?

Spiders have 8 eyes, so I thought this was pretty cool.
Plus I love purple!

I can't wait to see these under a black light!
What do you think?
