When I'm with You, I can be Me - card.

Here's a fun card I created recently for swap. I used a assortment of washi tape for the background and simply colored in this stamped image from a Stampin Up stamp set called : For the Birds!

Bleach Painted Canvas Shoes!

I am in Love with these canvas shoes from ...of all places...K-mart! They are less than $10 each. I have red and white striped, blue and white striped and black. Super comfy for the most simple of shoes. I bought a extra pair of the black so I could do this to them.
Alisa Burke gave me the idea.
I was inspired by her post here.
I really love how the bleach made the black into a burnt orange. After I was done and the shoes were dry to touch,  I took a black sharpie and accented some of the designs.

Don't you love the heart inside?
I think I'm going to wear these all summer long.
What do you think?

Rowlux Illusion Film Designer Blog Hop and Giveaway!

 Hi Everyone!
So glad you can come visit us today to see this revolutionary  new material called Rowlux®!
I was fortunate to receive a sample pack (colors below), to have some creative fun!

"Rowlux ® Illusion Film is made in the USA and comes in a diverse range of spectacular eye-catching colors and patterns.  These durable, translucent, 12" x 12" polycarbonate sheets add instant pizzazz to craft projects, seasonal accents, party decorations, scrapbooks, greeting cards, jewelry, furniture, frames, gifts, favors, accessories, art and DIY home decor projects."
You might have seen some displayed on the sides of drum sets, back grounds for a hot night club, or even on running shoes!

The possibilities are endless when it comes to Rowlux ® !
I knew instantly that I wanted to make a few eye popping pendants or charms to hang in the window.

" The illusion of depth and motion is the result of thousands of tiny parabolic lenses that are molded into the surface of both sides of the material. These lenses create a pattern of light reflection and refraction resulting in stunningly brilliant optical effects. "
So I set about with my soldering supplies and tools to have some fun!
When making the pendant below,  I used a paper trimmer to easily cut my Rowlux ®film to fit the memory slides.

Now as you can see, I'm still fairly new to soldering and some of my work is messy, but still full of character. :)  One thing I'd like to share with you is when you are working the solder around your piece...don't linger. The constant heat from the solder iron can cause the Rowlux ®film start to sweat inside the memory frames.
You can see in the upper left corner of the photo below that the film also lost some of it's depth because I was spending a tad too much time on that corner.

Rowlux ® can easily be cut and scored with paper trimmers. Scissors, Sizzix® steel rule dies, Sizzix® embossing folders and Sizzix® Scoreboards (which cut and score) by Eileen Hull also work well. Rowlux ® can be manually bent, rolled and folded.
When working on cutting up smaller even lined pieces, I found it easiest to use the scoring blade on my paper trimmer and then just cut apart using my scissors.
Here are some other pretty pendants I made destined to be window catchers.

For this pendant, I simply wrapped floral wire around the blue Rowlux ® before putting between 2 glass memory slides. Fun!

Summer Centerpiece Firecrackers!

  Hi Everyone!
Here is a simple craft that you can make to accent any festive summer occasion!

 Materials and supplies used:
cut down tubes from used aluminum foil, wire garland, bamboo skewers,
Silver Bells Dew Drops, Star Glitter Border, Blue Raspberry Glitter Sorbet,
a scalloped  border punch and white paper, a small flower punch, scissors, paper piercer, double stick tape, rhinestone adhesive, and vintage trim.
Coat the outside of your tube with double stick tape and then add your choice of paper. Add your scalloped trim and then trace the end of the tube onto some paper and cut out a circle larger than you traced. Punch or pierce a hole in the center, then cover entire circle with  double stick tape and cut as shown below.
Push your stick or wire garland through the hole of the circle,  then push into the top and bottom of the firecracker, making sure the cut edges are secured and hidden inside of the tube.
Accent the firecrackers with the flowers and dew drops.
Place inside a glass jar or tin can filled with beans to hold upright and add other Americana decorations if desired!
Thanks for coming by, I hope you are having a fantastic summer celebration with your friends and family!

Extra Large Thank You Card!

Hi Everyone!
This past week of June, I have been at day camp with my Cub Scouts at our local Marine base. It's been hot, exciting and fun to watch the boys form friendships, interact with the base hero's  and do their best! The day camp staff always does  a great job organizing and putting the weeks worth of events together that I thought they would like a card. This is 8"x11" and filled with lots of hand written thanks inside from the parents and the campers in my den. I love how The Robins nest papers and Dew drops really come together and how the glittered fleur is exactly the Boy Scout emblem. Perfect!
The following supplies were used to make this card:

Liberty Dew Drop Mix
Red Glitter Stripe
Red Glitter Rope
Glittered Fleur
Blue Sorbet
Fire Cracker by Timeless Twine
A scalloped punch, pen, foam tape and adhesive.
*** Animal prints are on sale all month at a whopping 20% off, and you can check out all of the wonderful papers and embellishments in this and all categories right here.

Celebrate Summer with Beaded Firework Hair Clips!

 Hi Everyone!
I knew I wanted to make myself and my friends something fun and festive to wear for this weeks 4th of July. We plan to have a potluck picnic in our community park, listen to live music, play games and watch the fireworks together.  I can't wait!
I started with a dish of my "jumble" beads. I call them that because when ever I'm done with any beading project, I just add the leftovers to one big bag and they "jumble" all together!
I dish out a few in the cup of my hand and use the end of some 26 gauge floral wire to start stringing.

For the red , I used 30 beads per loop. In the photo below you can see that after I strung my beads, I just gave the wire a couple of twists and then made another loop until I had completed 6 red loops. For the white, I  used 25 beads to make 5 loops.

I just kept twisting the loops until done with the color and then threading the wire into the center to secure the finished color.  For the blue, I used 20 beads to make 6 loops.
After I had made the center blue, I pulled up some wire which was secured from the bottom with a quick pinch of pliers. Then I added 6 silver beads and pinched the top wire as shown below. I did this 2 more times. It's not required, but I though it added some fun. :)

Using a silver plated bobby pin, I wrapped the excess wire around the back of the pin and used pliers to twist the wire tight.

Now I have a fantastic hair clip to wear for this week and all summer long!
I hope to have inspired you to make some for you and your friends and that your summer is something to Celebrate about!
